This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who has the technical ability and practical engineering knowledge to take full responsibility for designing specialised vacuum tanker equipment from concept through to manufacturing.

Our client is a well-established Australian manufacturer specialising in the design and manufacture of vacuum tankers, heavy vehicle equipment and specialised transport solutions. They have an excellent reputation for engineering quality, innovation and manufacturing specialised equipment for industrial applications.

Due to ongoing demand, they are seeking an outstanding Mechanical Design Engineer with advanced SolidWorks 3D CAD skills and the ability to manage complete engineering design projects.

The Position:

• Design and engineer complete vacuum tanker systems and specialised heavy vehicle equipment.
• Develop detailed SolidWorks 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings.
• Take projects from initial concept through to final design and production.
• Design fabricated steel structures, tanks, components and mechanical assemblies.
• Undertake engineering calculations, design reviews and technical assessments.
• Consider structural integrity, load distribution, weight and manufacturing requirements.
• Work closely with fabrication, production and management teams.
• Prepare detailed drawings, bills of materials and engineering documentation.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant Australian Standards and engineering requirements.
• Provide technical support throughout the manufacturing and assembly process.

To Be Successful:

• Degree or relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in mechanical design and engineering.
• Advanced SolidWorks 3D modelling and detailed drafting skills.
• Experience designing vacuum tankers, pressure vessels, heavy vehicles, trailers or specialised machinery.
• Strong understanding of steel fabrication, welding and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to undertake engineering calculations and solve complex design challenges.
• Experience managing complete engineering design projects.
• Practical, hands-on engineering approach with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects from start to finish.

Experience in vacuum tanker design would be highly regarded. However, engineers with strong backgrounds in pressure vessels, heavy vehicle equipment, mobile plant or complex fabricated machinery are also encouraged to apply.
