Great opportunity to join a successful and well-established precision engineering business located in Heidelberg West.
Our client is a highly regarded Australian engineering company with a strong history of providing precision machining, fabrication and engineering services to a variety of industries.

Due to ongoing work requirements, they are looking for an experienced CNC VMC Machinist / Setter to join their engineering team.

This is a hands-on position involving the setting and operation of CNC Vertical Machining Centres, producing precision-machined components from engineering drawings.

The work involves a variety of machining jobs, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys jobbing work rather than repetitive production machining.

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

• Setting and operating CNC Vertical Machining Centres
• Machining precision components to engineering drawings
• Selecting cutting tools, tooling and workholding equipment
• Setting machine offsets and machining parameters
• Carrying out tool changes and machine adjustments
• Checking components using precision measuring equipment
• Working to close tolerances and quality requirements
• Assisting with other workshop duties when required
• Working as part of a skilled engineering team

TO APPLY YOU SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:

• Trade qualifications in Fitting & Machining or similar
• Experience setting and operating CNC VMC machines
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Good understanding of cutting tools, feeds and speeds
• Experience with precision measuring equipment
• Ability to work to tight tolerances
• CNC programming experience advantageous
• Experience with jobbing or small-batch machining
• High attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
